I flew as an AW on this aircraft in 1972 as a Sensor Station One operator (Crew 6 -Wilcox's Mad Dogs!)when it was with VP-40 based at NAS Moffet Field, CA. It had just gone trough a refit to bring it to the "DIFAR" standard which removed the old Julie station and added a second Jezebel set-up.

While it's a sad thing to see it retired, a life span of nearly fifty years is astounding considering the rigors of low level maritime patrol duties. I wonder what percentage of original parts remains after all those years?

Farewell!!
