If I am not mistaken, this aircraft was assigned to A Troop 3/17 CAV in TF LIGHTHORSE in Afghanistan 2009-2010. I took a PKM 7.62x54 round in the right side of the engine, splitting the engine oil pressure and return lines (went right between them), ripped the fire shield up and over the HMU, and slammed into the corner of the accessory gearbox heat shield. Only cosmetic damage. That was a busy day in the Korengal valley. August 2010. CW2 Zach Rankin, PIC and CPT David Broom, CP/G. CPT Erik Wright, A Trp CDR
